Sharon Yvonne Stone was born on March 10, 1958, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to the accountant Dorothy Lawson and tool and die manufacturer as well as former worker in the factory Joseph William Stone II. Michael, Kelly, Patrick. She was one of the three siblings. Stone was considered academically gifted as a child and began second grade at five. Stone graduated from Saegertown High School, located in Saegertown, Pennsylvania, in 1975. She also competed in the Miss Pennsylvania beauty pageant, which she won Miss Crawford County. Stone relocated together with her aunt from New Jersey, where she was interested in pursuing a modeling career. A month later, Stone signed up at the Ford Modeling Agency.
